2012 Solar Eclipse in Queensland Accommodation

SAVE 5% on ALL Campervan hire to view the Solar Eclipse in Queensland

SOLAR Eclipses are rare events and it's even rarer still to have them occur within your own backyard. But that's what Far North Queensland residents will get to experience later this year when at 6.38am on the morning of November 14th the moon's shadow will bring night to day for up to 2 minutes. Although much of Cairns' accommodation has already sold out, DriveNow has campervans and Motorhomes still available at fantastic prices. In celebration of the eclipse DriveNow is offering a 5% discount to travellers that mention they will be viewing the solar eclipse in Cairns. To celeberate the eclipse Cairns will host the ‘Eclipse Festival’ from 10-16 November. The eclipse week is expected to attract many thousands of international travellers and the world’s best musicians, DJ’s and artists all there to experience this one off Queensland event. The eclipse shadow's path will start over the Northern Territory and sweep across the Gulf of Carpentaria and Queensland's Cape York Peninsula before heading out over the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. A Partial eclipse will be experienced in Indonesia, parts of northern Australia and New Zealand later in the morning stretching as far south as Christchurch on the South Island. The eclipse offers the perfect opportunity to combine the experience of this unique event with a great holiday exploring the Tropical Far North. Of course we think there's no better way to do this than with a Campervan rental! Biased we may be, however it's hard to go past today's Motorhomes and Campervans some of which are so well equipped you'll almost feel like a hotel on wheels (without the room service perhaps). Some of these featues include comprehensive kitchens and bathrooms, room to stretch out, double beds, flat screen TVs and DVD players. Today's vehicles take Campervan holidays to a totally new level and even the largest of vehicles are surprisingly easy to drive. Where to park is never a problem with Cairns and the Far North of Queensland well served by Holiday parks with Powered sites giving you the flexibility to chose where and when you pitch up for the night.
